Student Spotlight:
Anthony Brooks
Salsa Student
Say hello to Anthony, who's rediscovering his love for dancing after a long break. After trading dance for sports in high school, Anthony is back on the salsa dance scene, determined to become a smooth and confident lead.
With a natural sense of rhythm and a passion for Latin culture (he's dreaming of dancing in Colombia!), Anthony brings energy and excitement to every class. He’s all about learning, having fun, and not sweating the small stuff.
Anthony shares his salsa dance journey through the following interview questions.

1. How did specific events or people influence your decision to start learning salsa?
I danced a lot as a kid but stopped and focused on sports in high school. Now I want to get back into it and become a proficient dancer. I jumped into Salsa 102, but I want to get a strong foundation so that I can be a great lead.
2. What strategies do you use to remember the steps and techniques taught in class?
I try to feel the music and count the quarter notes or eighth notes in my head if I get off track. I try to remember what beat each step is on.
3. Have you ever had a salsa classmate or instructor who pushed you to exceed your own expectations? How did that impact your salsa journey?
I believe that Danny(Academy Director) can teach anyone to dance. He is a great dancer and instructor.
I went into the advanced salsa class, and although I have never taken a class before, I was able to pick up a lot of the moves because of the great instruction!
