Calbert Marroquin

1. Did you choose to take salsa classes or bachata classes first, or both at the same time? How come?

I started with both programs. They were conveniently on the same night.

2. At this point in your dancing journey, do you think you’ll go farther with salsa or with bachata, or equally far in both? How come?

So far I plan to continue them both equally. It makes social outings easier since they often play a mix of both.

3. When you've felt like you couldn't keep up with the pace of a class, what steps did you take to catch up and feel more comfortable?

I've been attending the Friday practice regularly to help with what we learn in class. It has really helped with consistency.

4. If you had to choose between salsa and bachata to dance forever, which would you pick and why? What draws you to that style?

I have been more drawn toward salsa. I enjoy the faster pace and dynamic movements and combos.

5. How would you describe the atmosphere and community at Movers and Shakers Dance Academy? Is there a difference between the salsa and bachata students?

I have enjoyed the community in each of the classes. Everyone is really supportive and it makes the process smoother. It has been a lot of fun venturing out socially in groups.
